Severe Weather Policy & Procedures

In accordance with Board of Education Policy and Administrative Guidelines, the following procedures will be followed for severe weather:

The National Weather Service shall be the official source of information pertaining to decisions made by the school district. During a severe weather WATCH, students will remain at school and will be dismissed at the end of the day as usual.

During a Severe Weather Warning, students will be moved immediately to
the “safe” area as determined by the individual building severe weather
plan.

If a Warning is in effect at the time of normal dismissal, students will remain at school until the National Weather Service removes the Warning.

All extra-curricular and after school activities, including practices and contests at home and away will be suspended if a Watch is in effect at dismissal time, or goes into effect during the time of activity. Exceptions may be made in unique circumstances when activities cannot be rescheduled. In the event a WARNING is issued during after school activity, students will move immediately to the “safe” area as determined by their building plan. Students will not be dismissed
until the “all clear” is given.
