Hello Springport Spartan Families!  I hope this finds each of you well and having a fun and exciting summer break!   Please forgive the interruption of your summer break but I wanted to provide you with a quick introduction of myself before we officially meet at the Back to School event in August.

My name is Terry Sedlar, and I couldn’t be more thrilled—or more honored—to be returning home as the Superintendent of Springport Public Schools. As a proud 1991 graduate of Springport High School, this isn’t just a new role for me—it’s a full-circle moment. To once again walk the halls where I first dreamed of being an educator, now in the role of serving the very district that helped shape me, is truly humbling.
After graduating from Springport, I attended Eastern Michigan University, where I earned my degree in Elementary Education. Later, I received my administrative credentials from Michigan State University. My career in education began in the classroom as a first-grade teacher. I went on to teach fourth and fifth grades before stepping into school leadership as an elementary principal. Over the past 29 years, I’ve had the honor of serving as a PK–6 principal for 18 of those years, and most recently, as Director of Human Resources, Operations, and Safety & Security for Olivet Community Schools.
In addition to my formal education, I’ve completed the Michigan Leadership Institute’s SUPES Academy and the Horizon Leadership Academy, where I earned my Central Office endorsement.
Throughout my journey, my wife Sally and our daughter Tori have been my constant support. We are all excited to now be part of the Springport community—as neighbors, friends, and fellow Spartans.

Why I Came Back to Springport
Springport gave me so much: an outstanding education, a solid foundation, and a sense of community that I have carried with me every step of my professional journey. It is that deep appreciation—and an overwhelming sense of pride—that brings me back home.
I return as a servant leader who believes in being visibly present, engaged, and fully committed. For me, leadership is about visibility, connection, and always putting students and staff first. I look forward to being in classrooms, walking the halls, attending events, and building authentic relationships with the people who make this district so special.
The warm welcome I’ve already received has been nothing short of incredible. Thank you for your kind words, your support, and your belief in the future of SPS. I’m bringing my energy, my passion, and my heart to this role—because our students, staff, and community deserve nothing less.

Great things are already happening at Springport Public Schools—and with your continued support, we'll continue to make Springport THE school of choice for all of our families!  It’s a GREAT day, and a perfect time, to be a SPARTAN!
I wish you a very Happy 4th of July 🇺🇲 and a wonderful summer!

With sincere excitement,
Terry
